Equipping Astara Cinema Hall in Tajrish

Astara Cinema in Tajrish is one of Tehran’s historic and memorable cinemas. Located in the Shemiranat area, it was established in 1963 with a capacity of 860 people. Over time, the complex had lost some of its former appeal, while interior deterioration, outdated equipment, and unused sections made renovation and modernization essential.

With the goal of revitalizing the complex and attracting a new generation of audiences, the Astara Cinema renovation project began with a modern approach. The project sought to preserve the building’s historical identity while providing modern and standard facilities for an improved film-viewing experience.

Reviving a Historic Cinema with a Modern Approach

During the renovation, the cinema’s exterior was restored with inspiration from Tehran’s historic character. The façades of the surrounding shops recalled the nostalgic atmosphere of old Lalehzar and the Grand Hotel. Meanwhile, the interior was completely modernized and equipped with up-to-date systems, creating an appealing combination of tradition and modernity.

As film-release patterns changed and the number of films being screened increased, a single large auditorium could no longer meet the cinema’s needs. Therefore, in August 2017, the complex was transformed from one main auditorium into three separate halls.

New Hall Capacity and Layout

After renovation, Astara Cinema’s total capacity became 740 people, divided as follows:

  • One main hall with a capacity of 500 people
  • Two secondary halls, each with a capacity of 120 people

This structural change improved the complex’s efficiency, enabled simultaneous screening of more films, and optimized the use of the cinema space.

Rezco’s Role in Equipping the Cinema

The seats for Astara Cinema’s halls were manufactured and installed by Rezco Industrial Group. The main objective was to provide standard, comfortable seating suited to the renovated cinema and fully aligned with the complex’s new identity.

The use of ergonomic cinema seats with high build quality and suitable durability played an important role in improving the audience experience and the final quality of the space. Rezco’s execution of this project demonstrates its ability to equip cinemas professionally and in accordance with the requirements of renovation and modernization projects.
