Design and Implementation of New Halls at Mellat Cinema Complex
Mellat Cinema Complex in Tehran is one of the country’s major cultural and cinema venues. Its distinctive architecture and role in hosting cinematic events have made it especially important among cinema enthusiasts.
In 2019, a project to design and implement six new cinema halls was carried out at the complex. Rezco (Rezco) was responsible for equipping the halls with standard cinema seating. A total of 376 cinema seats were designed and installed to provide audiences with a comfortable and professional experience.
The halls were designed to meet cinema technical standards while using durable, ergonomic seating for complete comfort during screenings.
Cinema Seat Design for Mellat Complex Halls
In high-traffic cinema halls, seat selection is critical. Seats must combine comfort with strong technical durability.
The project used seating designed for cinema and amphitheater halls, featuring:
- Single-base design for efficient use of hall space
- Fixed seat with a durable structure
- Movable spring-operated backrest for greater audience comfort
- Durable plastic backrest frame
- Injected plastic armrests with a cup holder
- Matching fabric upholstery or integral material for the armrests
These features provide both visual appeal and reliable performance in busy cinema halls.
Use of Flame-Retardant Cold Foam
Premium flame-retardant cold foam was used in the seat and backrest. It improves long-term comfort, preserves its shape, and extends seat service life.
The foam’s flame-retardant property is also an important safety standard for cinemas and amphitheater halls.
Project Outcome
The design and equipment project for the new halls at Mellat Cinema Complex is a successful example of installing cinema seating in one of the country’s major cultural venues. Ergonomic standard seating improved audience comfort while enhancing the halls’ visual order and appearance.
